Designing The Perfect Landscape Lighting For Your Garden
With the right colored outdoor lighting your garden can easily transform from perfect hideaway to jazzy party venue at no more than a flick of a switch. Landscape lighting design has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years. You can now buy dazzling garden lighting kits and even good quality solar powered lights without breaking the bank. I recently bought some underwater pond lighting even though I don't have a pond. They came with various coloured discs that were interchangeable and I set them up in my herb garden. I will use them to create a different look and feel depending on the time of year.
When you think of landscape lighting design an ultra modern young and trendy image springs to mind. Whilst it is of course possible to create this look (which is my personal taste but not for everyone), lighting can actually be used in all sorts of ways to spice up your garden and create the perfect atmosphere for your mood. By planning your design carefully you can use different colors and change your gardens mood just by choosing which lights to switch on.
For everyday normality you would want something that's pleasing on the eye and won't cost a fortune to run. For that I suggest solar powered lights. These are very cheap and can be used effectively simply by placing them around borders or by using them to highlight your favourite garden ornament. My neighbour has a small fruit blossom cherry tree in her garden and has four small solar powered lights around its base. In the evenings this type of landscape lighting design looks fantastic and actually cost less than $20. The next step in garden lighting is the water feature. Many of us own a water feature but by adding a lighting effect you can take it from background ornament to a true garden feature or centrepiece.
Of course for the whole hog you'll want some good quality garden exterior lighting kits. This is where landscape lighting design comes into it's own. For either a truly modern garden party atmosphere or an Al Fresco style you can choose from vibrant color on walls and among plant beds. How about accent lighting, path and spread lighting and feature lighting. If you have any decking then deck lighting can really give a stunning look. So really, landscape lighting design can be whatever you want it to be. You may even want to include security lighting within your plans. Take a look around the Internet and various garden and lighting shops and get your creative juices flowing.
